National Aquarium of New Zealand

One of Hawke’s Bay’s premier tourist attractions and home to New Zealand’s largest display of aquatic life. Visitors can experience sharks, stingrays, living coral, a huge range of fish species and native wildlife. Visit Penguin Cove and watch the little penguins swim, feed and play. Spot the New Zealand native wildlife – the Kiwi and Tuatara. The 1.5 million litre Oceanarium showcases the many and varied aquatic species that exist in the adjacent Hawke Bay, including five types of shark and many other reef fish. You can journey through the Oceanarium inside our amazing underwater viewing tunnel via a 50m travelator as hundreds of local fish species swim and feed, above and around you.
