Hastings City Business Association is a Non-Profit Incorporated Society formed in 1994 to represent the 480 plus businesses in the Hastings Central Business District. Our mission is to make the Central Business District the preferred place to do business in Hawke’s Bay.

We work hard for our members to provide a vibrant, distinctive and safe destination to work, shop and visit. This includes marketing and enhancing our CBD, working with local partners and council, and advocating for our members.

Currently we have a fantastic opportunity for a passionate and driven individual who shares in our vision. As the City Business Manager, you will create and drive innovative strategies to ensure a vibrant and flourishing Hastings CBD, making it the preferred choice for visiting and doing business.

Relationships with the business community will be key to ensuring your success. You will engage with a diverse range of key stakeholders and influencers across the board, building strong relationships and gaining buy-in and support. In a sense, you will be bringing the business community together by understanding the various needs and priorities, with your focus always being on achieving a positive outcome for all. Collaboration is key, and any planning or strategy development will need to be inclusive.

This could be the perfect fit for you if you have an entrepreneurial spirit backed by solid business skills. You’ll be able to engage with the right individuals to communicate your vision clearly as well as to make things happen. You will also have a good understanding of the sales, marketing and promotions side of things, to really get the message out there.

As part of your role you will have staff management responsibilities, therefore you’ll need to have a good understanding of leadership, collaboration, coaching and empowerment. Needless to say, your communication and presentation skills will need to be top notch!
