Hawke’s Bay electricity uses are soon to receive their share of the Unison Networks Limited dividend, from Hawke’s Bay Power Consumers’ Trust.
Cheques for $200 will be mailed next week. Trust chairman, John Newland said that this level of payment is a reflection of the positive result achieved by Unison. “Trustees are pleased to be able to distribute the dividend at what is a record level, for each consumer”.
This distribution sees almost $12M mailed to 56,000 consumers. While the Unison area of operation extends across the Taupo and Rotorua regions, it is only Hawke’s Bay consumers, as owners of the company, who share in the distribution.
Apart from the dividend distribution, the trust applies an additional $1.7M to accelerating the Unison program to replace poles and overhead lines, with underground services. John Newland explained “There are situations where the poles and wires still have an effective economic life, but we know that consumers prefer to see them replaced for aesthetic reasons”.
