Hawke’s Bay’s leading construction company Gemco celebrated 20 years in style with 500 guests rocking to top New Zealand band The Blackseeds at Church Road.
Gemco was founded by Darren Diack and developer Terry Pratley in late 2003.
Gemco managing director Darren Diack said 20 years at the forefront of the local construction scene was a major milestone, which has seen the business grow from a team of eight in 2004 to over 140 staff today and now has completed more than $1 billion in projects.
Gemco has built or rebuilt many of Hawke’s Bay’s iconic buildings such as Toitoi Hawke’s Bay Arts & Events Centre, Waiaroha Water Discovery Centre, MTG Museum, the HB Regional Sports Park grandstand, Kaweka Hospital, Delegat Winery and many others.
Darren said having The Blackseeds playing their classic hits such as Cool me Down and So True, was the perfect way to celebrate the milestone with staff, their partners, clients and friends.
“We’re well known for celebrating success and securing The Blackseeds made it the party of all parties.
“It’s quite a challenge to get one of New Zealand’s top bands at a private party, especially in summer, but we managed to secure them. Along with 3 other local artists we had an afternoon at Church Road that will be etched into our history.”
